Yesterday status got updated for me and my wife as below:
Current Status: Approval notice sent.
On August 8, 2008, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service.
Hope I will receive GC soon. Haven't got CPO mails/status yet.

How about forcing FBI remove reference files from the name check? Basically put the name check process back to how it was pre-Nov. Dec. 2002 ? Here's the story of name check
In Oct-2002 a person was cleared by FBI as having no records but INS somehow found that he was involved in foreign counter intelligence investigation. So it asked FBI how such a person could be cleared with no records. At that time FBI checked only the main files (even today FOIPA requests checks only the main files) and it didn't find that guy in the main file. It then queried the reference files and found him there. So instead of investigating why the agent did not add this record to the main file what it did was add the reference file to search. The reference file will have all sorts of records, good or bad including stuff like traffic tickets, witness to a crime, FBI Tipping etc. So now if a person has a hit FBI has to determine whether that hit was due to a good deed or bad deed from the person. What kind of stupid decision is this ? If a fellow was missed in the main file then action should be taken to fix the main file not add all and every other file to the search and start manually separating wheat from chaff.
If the name check process is reverted to pre nov. 2002 mode things will definitely move fast.

Hi,
I did my landing last weekend. It went smoothly. At the port of entry ( at Niagra falls) Immigration officer said that my pictures that they have will not work and they took new pictures right there. The immigration offices also explained that if i am going back to US and then entering Canada again by land , all i need to show are the landing paper that he attached with my passport. If we plan to travel by air then it might cause some issues and its better to have the card. The thing that he made clear to me is that i do not need PR card to enter Canada again by land.

Yes, that helps a lot, thanks for the info. I am leaning towards abandoning the card for now; don't think I should risk a trip to Canada again if other options are available such as traveling by car. Plus if I understand it correctly I can get a travel document from the Canadian embassy too for air travel.

The person I talked to said that it's true that to enter by land, you don't need a PR card; however, you will need at least one photo ID issued by a Canadian govt agency such as a drivers license. The landing document alone won't be sufficient as it doesn't have a photograph. She advised that a travel document should be issued easily enough, as long as I've maintained the residency requirements.

Chan is right. If interpretation will start the way you are proposing, it will be sheer disaster for people who didn't file I-485 yet.

I am not hitting on employers revenues, infact employer made money since two yrs because of me. The reason is, employer never got this project for me. It never had any business either with PF or with the client earlier. It was only because of my contact with the PF i got the project. i introduced the PF to my employer, have them sign a contract and since these two yrs my employer was able to place 4-5 consultants through the PF i introduced to them. Now tell me, how much my employer would have made because of me or other consultants??? Even after all this, he is being mean to me. these desi companies thirst for money is never ending. whereas consulatnts can never look up for a better life!!!!!!

Call USCIS and enquire about your card and also verify if your address in their system is correct. Also, get an appt with local USCIS office. All the best!!!
Called USCIS couple of times but I did not get the right response till now. They used to end the call abruptly.
But just now I called again, she told that they need to upload the Biometrics from CSC and she will do that. She told that I will get the card in 30 days...may be the regular time which they mention.
And she told not to take any Infopass appoitment and just to wait for 30 days.

8 CFR 204.5(e) relating to PD transfer between eb categories
(e) Retention of section 203(b) (1), (2), or (3) priority date. A petition approved on behalf of an alien under sections 203(b) (1), (2), or (3) of the Act accords the alien the priority date of the approved petition for any subsequently filed petition for any classification under sections 203(b) (1), (2), or (3) of the Act for which the alien may qualify. In the event that the alien is the beneficiary of multiple petitions under sections 203(b) (1), (2), or (3) of the Act, the alien shall be entitled to the earliest priority date. Holy cow... I cannot believe, I got my green card today...
My online case status changed to card production ordered today (1 hour ago).
I had filed during july fiasco and was not abel to send my medical tests , so had got RFE.
Then i took the medicals and sent the response in july 2009, and the status remained RFE response received for a long time.
I called NSC and opened a service request on Aug 18.
Guys believe me Service Request does miracles, they just approved it now.
So my journey came to an end after 7 years.
If I got green card, the whole credit goes to IV. You guys are really great, learnt a lot from this forum. Kudos to you all...
I will continue to visit these forums and help as much as I can.
I still cannot believe I got it.

Getting sick of this movement in dates.
Illegal guy in US makes more money & without any hassle.
Trying to stay legally hurts very much for the past 9 years.
Atleast they should allow to pre-file I-485 so that atleast guys like me (when we missed july 2007 race) can just file and complete the verification process in I-485.

File a BBB case..but make sure you are absolutely sure Company is at fault...if its just money..
i guess u have to take a "hit".. but if they have violated ur rights in any way..u should pursue all possible options of getting justice.

I am sure below copied my URL will help lot of other folks who would like to know how much employer list $$ amount in their individual LCA, who is the owner of the company, how many LCA are filed from this company for that year etc...:D
in the employer field, search by "employer name" and see the magic...and once you get to the details section look for " designated_first_name" and " designated_last_name" will tell you who the owner of the company is some more details of your interest....LOL!! :p

Love India, gave me the best time.
Came to US for higher education. Love USA.
Not yet in the GC mess, but if I want to stay here, I will have to get in. (Hoping that the problem will be solved by the time I apply :D )
Visited India and love the progress. The final act of moving to India is not always GC, money or lifestyle. It boils down to the family one has in India. Having been away from India for long, don't feel comfortable with relatives anymore. Recently lost my dad, who meant everything to me. Can't think of going back to a place where he is not there anymore!
Good luck to all who decide to go back to India and Good luck to all who decide to stay back in the US.

All the best to you. You must have thought & compared all the limitations.
In my opinion the issues, advantages & disadvantages change from country to country. It depends on a person how S/He applies those yardsticks during & to particular circumstances. One thing I can not agree more about is the opportunities in education available in US compared to India. I know people will be all over me after saying this but inspite of cost being the factor (which unfortunately is also a factor in case of some good institutions in India now) the avenues available to young generation in US irrespective of their cast/religion/race & financial ability is comparitively greater in US.
More importantly most of us will be able to adjust to changes relatively quickly but if we have kids who are raised in this system & are at high school level it will be really challanging for them to enter the system in India.

We posted our 485 application to Texas service center on May 31st and on 6th June they mailed us the receipt number for me and my wife.
Checks were also cashed on 6th June.
