Thanks dingudi. If you know of a solid case where someone was RFE'd because of landing while on 485, then it looks like I might seriously consider abandoning it as well.
One last question: Let's hypothetically say that I do decide to land and somehow manage to get back into the US without any issues using my AP. However, every subsequent time I leave the U.S. and return, I run the risk of getting "caught" at the POE with regards to the 485/Canadian residency conflict. Am I correct in this assessment?

I landed on March 17, 08 and came back the same day to the US using Automatic Visa Revalidation. I had no questions asked either by Canadian or US authorities. When you land the Canadian authorities will staple a piece of paper to your PP as proof of PR until you get the PR card. While re-entering the US I remove that stapled paper as it was very annoying every time you opened the PP. Nobody will question you just because you have a plan B.

That may be a RFE and then eventually you have to give that letter and do more bargaining with your employer...
You wont neccesarily get RFE for omitting the employer's letter. Your 485 CAN GET DENIED.
YOU NEED EMPLOYER'S LETTER THAT STATES THE INTENTION OF HIRING WHEN GC IS APPROVED. Otherwise, as per USCIS memo recently issued, the officer can simply deny the 485 without bothering the send you an RFE to explain the missing document.

Great!! People are already talking about the flowers to USCIS. By the way, there are flower websites, with same day delivery.
I have convinced a few people at work to do this. Their point is, if we really want to do this, let's do it in a way that works. After receiving a few deliveries, USCIS will get the idea and direct it's lobby security to refuse all further flower deliveries. What's our plan for that situation?
How did the people who delivered nuts to CBS make it happen? The delivery was actually done via UPS. It's difficult to refuse a UPS packet in the security lobby! Should we send chocolates via UPS instead? It will be much more difficult to refuse deliveries of chocolates.

Don't confuse between taking legal risk with doing something illegal. You must be an idiot to think they are the same.
Poeple that sold $500K home to those who make $40K were not doing anything illegal. What they were doing was irresponsible. It is the guy that was making $40K, but lied on his application that he was making $80K that is the criminal.

Now that they can't, they have this potential of being illegal stay/out of status or whatever that they have to deal with.

Sorry if I am posting on wrong thread. I am in the process of sending my documents for EAD renewal and had few questions
Do we need to include a cover letter ?
Also I am sending the following documents.
1) copy I-485 receipt notice
2) copy of EAD (front and back)
3) two color photos
4) Filing fee check $340
5) Mailer stub received from previous EAD.
Am I missing anything else?
A cover letter even though not required, is always a good idea. Do mention in bold that you want the new EAD to start from mm/dd/yy which is when your current one expires, otherwise it could start from the approval date and you could lose 2-3 months. I'd keep the cover letter short, just 2-3 lines plus doc list.

I just wanted to ask you a few question. The biotech firms employ a lot of people on H1b visas. How come none of them, excluding Genentech, is included in the compete america group's letter to the congress. I strongly feel and pharmaceutical companies, contract research organizations, other biotech companies should also be included to stand for the H1b visa and green card issue for their employees. Seccond question I would like to ask is about the provision to renew the H1b in increment of 3 years each after the 6th year, which apparently has been taken off in this new CIR bill. This is a very technical issue and employers would not want to loose the trained employees after the 6th year period. It does not make any sense to refuse renewability of the H1b after 6 years since by that time that employee has already become an asset to the company or this nation. Please make sure to stand for that particular issue. H1b should be renewable in increments of 3 years each if the GC has been filed by the 5th year. Does it mean that all June 1st filers will be getting their 485 approvals by September ( barring any RFE and name check delays)???

I called customer service yeasterday and the response is that they were processing June22 cases and they would get to July 2 in 2-3 weeks.

Again as Somebody mentioned Earlier, its not going to get solved in 2-3 Months, So this will be helpful only from Futuristic purpose.
Its Vision problem, But this can't be solved by Lawsuites, It needs discussions, Negotiations and Communication, By Who have access to USCIS representative. In a Nutshell IV or AILA Kind of group, need to bring on their agenda, if they think its in Best interest for everybody.
Simply put i am used to standing in queue to Buy Coffe, and somebody gets priority I feel i've been bypassed.
